Dear Valued Partner,
Last night, we received an inquiry from IPVM, asserting that a project won by Hikvision in Minjiang University of China’s Fujian province includes a system of "fasting month" alerts for "ethnic minority students". In an effort to prevent any potential misperceptions, we are reaching out to provide clarification on this matter.
To be clear, Hikvision does not offer ethnic minority recognition or analysis technology in any of our product offerings.
It is confirmed that one of Hikvision’s subsidiaries served as the general contractor in the project. Throughout the tendering process, both the subsidiary and Minjiang University examined the conflicts between the accused features and general human rights principles. Consequently, the accused features were not included in the list of requests, which means that this project never engaged in the development and deployment of the referenced features.
Hikvision solemnly reiterates that none of our product offerings include ethnic recognition and analysis functions and we remain steadfast in our commitment to respecting human rights and opposing discriminations- a principle integral to our long-term policy. Furthermore, we are dedicated to collaborating with all the suppliers, customers, partners, and other stakeholders to collectively uphold and protect human rights globally.
We trust that this information clarifies the matter and addresses any concerns you may have. Should you have any further questions, please feel free to contact our team.
Thank you for your understanding.
Yours faithfully,
Justin Hollis
