Hereby we would like to inform you about the recent measures regarding the coronavirus and how these impact our business operations.
As you might be aware, China is currently celebrating the Chinese New Year with a 10 day national holiday, which was supposed to last until 30 January. Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus and its rapid spread, part of the containment measures the government is taking is an extension of the national holiday. Currently some provinces, including Zhejiang, where Hikvision is headquartered, have instated a mandatory holiday until 9 February (including). This means that all businesses and factories will remain closed and employees are required to stay at home.
For Hikvision, this means that currently all manufacturing of products is halted and is expected to resume on 10 February. For the foreseeable time, all back orders will be delayed. At Hikvision Europe, we will do our best to support our customers and minimise the impact, but unfortunately some matters are outside of our influence. Nevertheless, we suggest that orders be placed with Hikvision Europe in Hoofddorp rather than directly at the headquarters for now. Here, the sales assistants are working as usual and will aim to facilitate the fulfilment of your orders. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and ask for your understanding.
Currently, authorities are saying that the incubation period of the coronavirus is 14 days. As Hikvision Europe, we have issued instructions to all employees, who are returning from China after the celebrations, to work from home in self-quarantine. Thereby, we want to contribute our part to responsibly managing the situation. From your side, if you have made appointments with our colleagues in the next few weeks and are worried about a potential transmission of the virus, please feel free to reschedule your appointments. Also please note that all customer trips to China are on hold for the time being. On a more positive note, authorities have also released that there is a very low risk of the coronavirus surviving on packaging or other products for more than a few hours. Thus, handling packages or shipments from China is deemed safe.
Rest assured that the whole Hikvision Europe team is continuing to support our business as usual. Should there be any developments, such as a further extension of the mandatory holiday, we will inform you in a timely manner.
