Hikvision Dealer Moore Than Electronics Modernizes Security at Louisiana Ben’s Ford Christian School

Ben’s Ford Christian School in Bogalusa, L.A., decided to bolster security after a site survey indicated a need for more robust security. The school’s leadership decided to replace a legacy analog system with a modern, innovative Hikvision IP camera system. Installing more than 70 cameras plus 16- and 64-channel M-Series NVRs enabled Hikvision dealer Moore Than Electronics (MTE) to beef up security and safety for students and staff.

Challenge: Update a Legacy Analog System to Bolster Security

Ben’s Ford Christian School was established in 1983 and is a large school with approximately 350 students. The school wanted to ensure comprehensive video security coverage of the football field, open space between buildings, and full coverage within the main buildings and hallways. Cameras were placed on each building to cover the blind spots and breezeways.

“Our expertise enabled us to efficiently remove old analog cabling while designing the new video security system, plus installing an easy-to-scale IP cabling system throughout the campus, both inside of buildings and for sprawling outdoor areas like the football fields and parking lots,” said MTE Owner, Quincy Moore. “Hikvision’s full-scale PanoVu panoramic lineup has key technology to capture broad 36-degree views and intelligent analytics to capture activity from vehicles and people.”

More than 50 cameras were installed to secure the main campus building. MTE used a combination of domes, turret, and bullet cameras with ColorVu technology to provide full-color video and images both day and night. Hikvision’s second-generation ColorVu is advanced and capable of illuminating darkness to provide details in vivid color for better deterrence and security.

Solution: 24/7 Full-Color Panoramic Video and Local NVR Video Storage

Panoramic network cameras paired with robust NVRs enabled wide area visibility and local video storage. A 4-directional Multi-Sensor PanoVu Network Camera DS-2CD6D24FWD-IZHS secured the gymnasium, easily eliminating blind spots and providing 360-degree monitoring with four adjustable lenses in one camera. This camera is also IP67/IK10 water-resistant and vandal-proof for maximum performance while deterring crime, and a built-in heater enables startup and performance down to -40° Fahrenheit.

The 8 MP Hikvision Panoramic ColorVu Fixed Turret Network Camera DS-2CD2387G2P-LSU/SL is deployed at the football field to enhance deterrence with its strobe light and audio alarm to warn intruders. Deep learning human and vehicle detection triggers this intelligent feature, which identifies activity and can sound an alarm.

“The Hikvision system resolved a lot of security challenges for Ben’s Ford Christian School. The advanced panoramic video cameras paired with live-viewing on the app allows them to monitor activity and deter unwanted behavior to create a safer campus,” said Moore.

A 64-channel M-Series NVR is used for local storage of video footage, as the school wanted to avoid cloud-hosted footage of students. M-Series NVRs enable true 8K streaming, supporting two channels at 32 MP decoding and 8K resolution or dual-4K output. Ben’s Ford coach and the assistant principal can stream 32 video channels simultaneously using the Hikvision app on their iPads for comprehensive campus monitoring from anywhere.
