Security challenges at residential complexes, particularly in urban areas, often include vandalism and the need for durable, reliable access control systems. Traditional systems can be costly to replace and maintain, especially for large properties with multiple units. Hikvision addresses these issues head-on with its Vandal-Proof Access Control Terminal, a robust solution that merges access control and intercom functions into a single device.
With IP65 and IK09 ratings, the terminal’s zinc alloy construction withstands vandalism and water damage, offering a long-lasting solution at less than half the cost of comparable systems.
It supports multiple authentication methods, including cards and PINs, and facilitates video intercom with support for various SIP servers. Its integration capabilities extend to external access controllers and card readers, ensuring a comprehensive security setup.
Additionally, remote control via the Hik-Connect mobile app and the option to connect to HikCentral Professional for video management make monitoring and managing access straightforward and efficient.
At Maryland’s Landover Hills Apartment complex, the need for a reliable, vandal-proof access system was critical due to past challenges with vandalism and the high cost of replacing legacy systems. Hikvision’s Vandal-Proof Terminal provided an ideal solution. Implemented by National Hikvision dealer, Area Probe Systems, the terminal offered a cost-effective, durable option that enhanced the security of 800 apartment units across 26 buildings.
“The Hikvision Vandal-Proof Terminal provides seamless access control for multi-unit residential applications. It’s a rugged device that withstands any vandalism and provides reliable security for the substantial number of units at the Landover Hills apartments, protecting residents,” said Curtis Leatham, Area Probe Systems Project Manager, in the case study.
In addition to over 65 terminals, more than 150 Hikvision video security cameras were installed, leveraging ColorVu technology for clear, color-accurate footage day and night, enhancing safety and providing valuable forensic evidence.
