Innovative Audio Visual Boosts Security For Mercy Center For Women

A variety of Hikvision turret and dome cameras, plug-and-play NVRs, and door controllers expand protection for residents

The Mercy Center for Women (MCW), a charitable organization founded by the Sisters of Mercy, has provided transitional housing and support services to destitute women and their children since 1994. With a commitment to creating a safe and supportive environment, MCW recently underwent a renovation project to ensure the safety of its residents. They partnered with Hikvision dealer, Innovative Audio Visual, based in Erie, P.A., to implement a comprehensive Hikvision security system.

Innovative Audio Visual (IAV), known for its expertise in audio visual and security solutions, installed Hikvision products to develop a robust security system for MCW's newly renovated building. This system aimed to provide state-of-the-art security and access control to safeguard the Mercy Center residents and staff.

The security system included 30 Hikvision cameras strategically placed throughout the facility in hallways, classrooms, the gym, the kitchen, and outdoor spaces. The IAV team employed a 32-channel DS-7732NI-I4 plug-and-play NVR for video storage for a month of continuous recording with H.265 video compression.

IAV integrated the HikCentral video management system (VMS) using PoE switches to manage the security system effectively. Various Hikvision security cameras, including dome, turret, and bullet cameras, were used. These featured advanced technologies like Virtual Corridor Mode and DarkFighter, ensuring high-quality images in various lighting conditions.

The system also included 4-door controllers that secured around 50 doors within the facility. This access control system and encrypted communication data ensured authorized entry for residents and staff to enhance security overall. One notable feature of this system was the 13.56 MHz M-Card Key Fobs for authorized entrance and convenience for residents. IAV's expertise extended to the installation and design of conduit work, which saved time and added value to the project.

Innovative Audio Visual's collaboration with Hikvision has played a crucial role in enhancing the safety and security of the Mercy Center for Women, reinforcing its mission to provide a secure and supportive space for women and children in Erie, PA.
