The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill on May 24 that includes an amendment prohibiting the federal government from purchasing video security equipment from certain China-based manufacturers citing alleged security threats. Hikvision—along with other Chinese companies—is mentioned in the amendment. The bill has not made it through the entire legislative process and has not been signed into law.

As a global enterprise, Hikvision takes cybersecurity very seriously and abides by all applicable laws and regulations in the countries in which we operate. We also reaffirm the fact that we hold our products to the industry’s global cybersecurity standards. The amendment prohibiting the U.S. federal government purchasing video security equipment from China-based manufacturers was made without a complete accounting of the facts and with no evidence to justify the claims made by its sponsors.
