At a rural school called Nuestra Señora del Carmen School in Paramonga, Peru, a novel geography class unfolded. For the first time, children explored a vivid and dynamic world map on a new 75-inch interactive display. With wide eyes, everyone followed each image that appeared, captivated and eager. Some even pleaded, “Please zoom in! We want to see it up close!” There were sparkles in their eyes that spoke of curiosity, a desire to learn, and dreams that were beginning to root in their hearts.

These inspirations are steadily lifted by joining hands as Hikvision and Fiberlux together paved the way for local rural schools' digitalization.

Challenges: when classrooms were stuck in static pages

In today’s rapidly evolving world, Peru’s digitalization journey remains challenging. According to Peru’s National Institute of Statistics and Informatics, during Q4 2024, while 58.4 % of the households nationwide were accessible to the Internet, rates in rural areas like Paramonga — home to Nuestra Señora del Carmen School — remained relatively low at 21.7%. Consequently, the school continued to rely on a traditional, teacher-centered model, which often led to struggles in keeping students’ attention and ensuring accurate delivery. Many times, teachers had to describe concepts verbally without visual aids, significantly hindering understanding.

“Trying to teach geographical diagrams or science experiments without visuals was uneasy. I’d talk for minutes about something — say, tectonic plates — and just see blank stares. Without showing it, they’re instantly detached,” explained the hardships by a local teacher.

Facing these stark challenges, a vital question arises: How can we help these children learn more efficiently? Hikvision provides a technological answer, bringing tangible hope and digital connection to students in Peru’s rural communities like Paramonga.

Joint hands that connect all and nurture the future

Thanks to our local partner Fiberlux, a prominent telecom provider, local communities witnessed a remarkable transformation from the previous situation. Fiberlux’s vital donation of internet service to 25 rural schools tackled the digital divide and improved digital education head-on.

Yet, at Nuestra Señora del Carmen School, a crucial insight emerged: connectivity alone wasn’t the magic bullet. These schools desperately needed tools to truly unlock the connection’s potential for learning. After knowing this, Hikvision donated a 75-inch interactive display to this school without hesitation, sincerely wishing to enable students and teachers to access educational resources in a more visual, interactive, and dynamic way.

Students’ top pick during class

The display quickly gained the attention and love of students and became the vibrant heart of the classroom. It effortlessly presents stunning HD videos and dynamic presentations, opening the door to a treasure trove of premier educational resources from the outside world and making learning more engaging and accessible than ever before.

With its assistance, even the most brain-racking class becomes a hit. “It sparks students’ curiosity and motivation,” a teacher shared with a heartfelt smile.“ During a science class, I shared an animated video about the water cycle, and the students were incredibly engaged. It was truly heartwarming that students can finally immerse themselves in dynamic and captivating knowledge.”

Additionally, Hikvision carefully chose this WonderHub Ultra Series interactive display, anticipating that it can not only boost class, but also care for the students. Besides HD images, the optical anti-blue light technology applied in the display can protect children’s eyes and ease their fatigue. All these functions reflect our commitment to fostering a better and more caring class atmosphere, inspiring both teachers and students to engage and thrive.

As one school leader envisions, “Apart from lessons, we plan to use the screen to strengthen communication in the community, celebrating student achievements, and sharing vital news and reminders. We’ll also showcase moments from various activities, gathering precious footage so our entire educational community can learn and grow together.”
