  • To meet customers’ requirement for connecting analog and IP cameras in different rate, Hikvision Turbo HD DVR provide the function of disabling analog channels to expand IP channels. This document is mainly to introduce how to achieve this function.

    Note: 1. Different series device have different abilities of expanding IP channels. You can refer to the file for more details. 2. Disabling one analog channel can expand one IP channels.  

  • To use POS function, both DVR and POS server should be configured and you can configure DVR locally or via iVMS-4200.

  • An internet connected device (camera, DVR, NVR) can be configured to be accessed from outside its local network. Using an IP address allocated by the internet provider, the end user is able to connect to this device. Internet services for non-enterprise solutions commonly provide a dynamic IP address to its users. The lack of a static IP address means the user must reconfigure their device connection settings every time a new IP address is allocated. Managing multiple devices will prove difficult if IP addresses are constantly changing. This issue can be solved by using a Dynamic Domain Name System (DDNS) Service. A fixed address is assigned by the DDNS service provider that can be used to connect to the desired device. The device itself must be configured with the DDNS credentials so that it may automatically update the service with the newly allocated IP address. Through this service, devices under dynamic IP addresses can maintain static addresses. Hikvision products support a number of third party DDNS services in addition to HiDDNS/Hik-Connect. 

  • Heat map is a graphical representation of data represented by colors. The heat map function is usually used to analyze the visit times and dwell time of customers in a configured area.  

  • As for RAID 5, if one HDD is broken, the RAID5 will be in degraded mode, and we can rebuild RAID5 to recover data. If there are two HDDs broken, the RAID5 will be offline. 

  • NVR which supports NFS/iSCSI protocol can add up to 8 * 8T Net HDD including IPSAN or NAS.

    Note: This function can be configured in website and local GUI.

  • The HDD Clone function can be used to copy the hard disk of NVR and back up the hard disk data of NVR. You need to log on NVR local GUI, then go to the Maintenance-HDD OperationHDD to configure.

  • Custom protocol is created by users with RTSP and 554 port. Then, IP cameras can be added to NVR by custom protocol to get naked stream. Note: As for Hikvision cameras, the stream paths are as below. It is enough to fill in one kind of them.

  • For NVR models which have independent output interface, if main output and auxiliary output have the different live view configuration. Even if auxiliary output don’t connect to screen, it will also waste some decoding ability of NVR.  

  • N+1 hot spare function is used for backup NVR. The maximum of ‘N’ is 32.

    Note: This function is now supported by DS-9600NI-I series and DS-96000NI-I series NVR.

  • The smart playback function provides an easy way to get through the less effective information. When you select the smart playback mode, the system will analyze the video containing the motion or VCA information. It will mark it with red color and play it in normal speed, while the video without motion will be played in the 16-time speed(the speed function can be configurable, -E/-Q is not supported). The smart playback rules and areas are configurable.

    Note: This speed function is now supported by almost all -K/-I/-super I series NVR.

  • Note:

    1:There are two different ways to use NVR cloud storage function: NVR as Storage Server: It can be added to other HCP or NVRs. NVR as Client End: You can add Cloud Storage Server to the client NVR, such as Hikvision cloud 2.0 or another NVR (which is set as storage server). 

    2:For NVR Cloud Storage Function, the protocol we use is Hikvision Cloud 2.0, and it only support Hikvision Cloud 2.0. The 3rd party cloud storage services such as Google Cloud, Baidu Cloud and Ali Cloud are not supported. 

    3:It only supports the storage of alarm pictures and does not support any video or data. 

  • The function of HTTPS ensures the secure access of web services by adding digital signature certificate authentication. All series of NVRs support HTTPS function. This article takes k series NVR (DS-7608NI-K2 v4.30.061 build 210313) as an example to introduce how to use HTTPS function.

  • Connect the 3MP camera to DVR of HUHI models and you can operate locally or remotely

  • The PIR camera with O in the model name provides an alarm output interface (EXT ALARM OUTPUT), and an external alarm equipment can be connected to the interface. When you turn on the EXT ALARM OUTPUT and the PIR alarm is triggered, the external alarm device will also be triggered. We recommend that PIR camera and K series DVR be used together to provide more accurate alarm information.

  • The full name of Hik-Connect DDNS is Hik-Connect Dynamic Domain Name Service. Once a device is added to a Hik-Connect account, the Hik-Connect DDNS server will allocate the device serial number as the default Hik-Connect domain name. Customer can edit the domain name later via Hik-Connect APP or web portal. Hik-Connect DDNS provides a mapping relationship between a domain and the device external IP & ports.
