Create good passwords: There are many approaches to creating complex, hard-to-hack passwords, but the article’s author recommends creating passwords that have 8 or more characters. “Complex passwords have upper and lower case, numbers, and punctuation marks too. Passphrases are even more secure. You can also create passwords from passphrases: NowistheTimeforStrongPassWords@2021 becomes ‘NitTfSPW@21.’”
Enable MFA wherever possible: Multi-factor authentication (MFA) requires a user to provide an additional means of authentication or verification, in addition to entering a username and password, to log into an account or website. This makes it more difficult for threat actors to hack your accounts.
Update software with patches: All software programs require updating from time to time. Computers, mobile devices and even home routers need to be updated with patches when they become available.
