October 30, 2025 – Hikvision, a global leader in the AI-powered Internet of Things (AIoT), has unveiled its first 16 MP network cameras designed specifically for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). The new series offers a step forward in image clarity for SMB security applications, providing an option for scenarios that require higher resolution than traditional 4 MP and 8 MP cameras. Available in both Live Guard and standard models, the series sets a new benchmark for image clarity and performance in its class.
Advanced imaging technologies for superior clarity
The new 16 MP camera series (2x166G3 models) incorporates several of Hikvision's most advanced imaging technologies:

- 16 MP ultra-high definition: It delivers video output at resolutions up to 4608 × 3456, enabling the capturing of extreme details, significantly improving post-event forensics and analysis efficiency.
- Powered by DarkFighter: Hikvision's advanced low-light imaging technology enables the cameras to capture clear and detailed imaging in low-light conditions. With enhanced light intake and deep learning algorithms, they maintain clear imaging without compromising brightness—breaking the limits often seen in high-resolution cameras under dim conditions.
- Enhanced Wide Dynamic Range (WDR): An advanced image processing technique that automatically turns on or off to ambient lighting, balancing bright and dark areas within the same frame. It provides exceptional image quality across the full frame, minimizing underexposure or overexposure even in challenging high-contrast scenes where light and shadow intersect.
Designed for reliability and sustainability
- The cameras feature NEMA 4X-rated protection, a standard for corrosion resistance, making them ideal for various environments.
