Venntek Eliminates Added Power Costs for WB Waste Solutions with Hikvision Wireless Solar Surveillance

4K solar camera kits paired with HikCentral software enhance video surveillance and reduce costs at 2 Maryland locations

WB Waste Solutions, LLC. (WB Waste) is a private solid waste management and recycling business. Operating in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C., it provides customers with environmentally focused solutions via its family of waste collection, recycling, processing, and transportation companies.

Hikvision dealer Venntek manages IT and Security Solutions for WB Waste locations across the D.C. Metro Area. The end-user had recently undertaken several upgrade projects that included remodeling existing locations and new location buildouts.

Venntek had previously installed and managed several indoor and outdoor Hikvision panoramic and dome cameras at WB Waste sites. The project locations had no accessible electricity or wired ethernet connectivity. When WB Waste discovered the high cost of running additional power from their buildings to remote and wide-area locations, they sought a more cost-effective solution to deliver complete surveillance across their footprint.

Based in Capitol Heights Maryland (near D.C.), WB Waste has high-valued truck assets in its lots that are important to secure and monitor. They consulted with Venntek to provide solar surveillance in two parking lots that store fleet vehicles for their operations. As a recycling company, choosing green and sustainable technology was also important to them.

As part of the WB Waste ecosystem, Venntek was able to work with the Hikvision team to recommend and configure the solar solution. The deployment began with the installation of the Hikvision ColorVu 4K Bullet IP Camera Solar Kit which features AcuSense detection, paired with the Hikvision Outdoor 5GHz Wireless Bridge.

“With our network and systems expertise, we were able to design, configure, and install poles at the two WB Waste locations to elevate the Hikvision Solar Cameras to a birds-eye view,” said Rob Ankenbrand, President of Venntek. “Between the cost savings by eliminating cable runs and the clear, 4K resolution, the end user is getting the visibility they need at a price that delivers the best ROI.”

Hikvision’s lineup of Solar-Powered Video Solutions eliminates the high power and internet infrastructure costs and other installation challenges typically associated with remote and hard-to-reach locations. A complete kit powered by solar energy and using wireless bridges vastly reduces data wiring costs while maintaining crystal-clear video.

Hikvision solar solutions also bring two key features:

·         Stable and reliable design: Low-power, large-storage, and a reliable system that can perform in strong winds and rainstorms.

·         Steady data transmission: The built-in wireless module resolves pain points around internet wiring for fast data transmission via wireless bridges with no extra fees.

“We enjoy working with Hikvision technology because of the advanced systems with great support. From sales to engineers, working with the team allows us to customize solutions for our customers,” said Chakib Mezimeche, Chief Solutions Officer at Venntek. He added that “his expertise supported the solar installation, as understanding the sun's direction and the configuration of the horizon enables him to optimize security with the solar kits.”

The Hikvision 4K solar camera application was deployed in conjunction with a solar light installation. Additionally, Hikvision’s ColorVu technology brightens environments day and night, enabling the cameras to capture clear images in full color around the clock.

“Venntek is proud to use its expertise to partner with the Hikvision team to offer a cost-effective, solar camera solution for WB Waste,” said Ankenbrand.

The comprehensive system delivered multiple benefits for the end user, including a reduction in power consumption bills, the elimination of investment costs in new power lines and breakers, and the deployment of a sustainable solution that brings effective video security to their properties.
