Hikvision UK & Ireland has been announced as a finalist in the prestigious 2022 British Security Awards for the Mobile Video Solution it provided for McDades Coaches of Scotland. The McDades solution is in the running to win the Innovative Security Project award at the gala BSA event in June.
Organised by the British Security Industry Association, the British Security Awards celebrate the achievements, acts of bravery and innovations made by members of the UK’s security industry. The Innovative Security Project award recognises projects that represent a first for the industry, for a particular market, or a new application for an existing security solution.
McDades provides school transportation for local councils, but its drivers were being subjected to abuse from passengers, and buses were being vandalised. The safety of students and drivers was at risk, but tight budgets couldn’t stretch to providing attendants for on-coach student supervision.
Instead, Hikvision’s Mobile Video Solution has been deployed to help protect drivers and passengers by recording and livestreaming video, allowing perpetrators to be identified and reported to schools. It also offers complementary on-bus passenger WiFi, statistical reports, analytics and live GIS mapping, along with full route video recordings for improved planning and driver training.
Hikvision marketing director Justin Hollis said the project is a significant step forward for mobile security deployment.
“We’re delighted and honoured to be nominated for this award,” he said. “This project shows how security video can be deployed and perceived as part of a broader set of technology enhancements, all working together to deliver results which benefit the passengers, the schools, the councils and the drivers and employees of McDades.”
The winners of the British Security Awards 2022 will be announced at a live ceremony at the London Marriott Grosvenor Square on June 29.
