The Security Systems News article, “Are you and your company ready for a cyberattack or data breach?” covers results from cybersecurity provider, FireEye, and their “2019 Cyber Trendscape Report,” which found that the majority of companies do not believe they are ready for a hack, cyberattack or security breach.
FireEye surveyed more than 800 CISOs (chief information security officer) and senior executives across North America, Europe, and Asia.
From the report website: “The majority (51 percent) of organizations do not believe they are ready or would respond well to a cyberattack or breach event. Moreover, nearly 29 percent of organizations with cyberattack and breach response plans in place have not tested or updated them in the last 12 or more months.”
Additional survey findings included:
- 76 percent of respondents intend to increase their 2020 cybersecurity budget.
- U.S. participants in the study indicated a planned increase of 10 percent or more for cyber budgets in 2020.
- Japan’s 2020 focus is detection capabilities.
- The U.S. led in the transition to the cloud.
