Stay Safe & Reduce Cyber Vulnerabilities: SIW Provides Tips for Securely Work from Home

Hikvision’s Work from Home Cyber Series: 3 Tips for Working Securely During COVID-19

SecurityInfoWatch.com (SIW) offers tips and insights to stay safe and reduce vulnerabilities while working from home in the article: “The new normal: What employees need to know for long-term work from home security.”

From the article: “While workers adjust to the new normal, employers are also reevaluating their approach to remote work and how to secure a remote workforce. IT teams had to tackle priority items like scaling network capacity and deploying video conferencing software, and now they’re preparing for long-term remote work. This is new territory for both employees and IT teams, but cybersecurity requires active participation from every person to maintain a secure work environment.”

The article provides several tips to securely work from home:

  • Follow cybersecurity best practices such as checking email addresses from unknown senders, use strong passwords, and don’t click on suspicious links.
  • Lock your computer when you walk away from it to prevent an accident (such as your toddler or cat hitting the keyboard).
  • Use multi-factor authentication (MFA) to maximize security. Read this Hikvision article about the importance of MFA.

Check out the SIW article for a checklist of additional ways to ensure security.
