Google Data Finds Scope of Cyber Fraud, Hacks & Phishing Grow Amidst COVID-19 Pandemic

 

Hikvision Sheds Light on Recent Phishing Scams, Offers Tips to Prevent Hack

 

Forbes covered a rise in cyber fraud, hacks and phishing in the article, “Google Data Reveals 350% Surge In Phishing Websites During Coronavirus Pandemic.”

Atlas VPN analyzed the data and found more than “300k new websites created in March with coronavirus-related keywords.” And, Google data found 149,000 active phishing websites in January 2020, which increased to 522,000 sites in March 2020 (a 350 percent increase from January).

“Panic leads to irrational thinking and people forget the basics of cybersecurity. Users then download malicious files or try to purchase in-demand items from unsafe websites, in result becoming victims of scams,” said Atlas VPN COO, Rachel Welch, in the article.
