May 10, 2021 - The Lakes Community in Tauranga offers a quality lifestyle as well as an enviable list of competitive advantages for businesses here to thrive. One of New Zealand’s fastest growing communities, with easy access to major roads, rail and sea networks, this new suburb is designed to include 2,081 residential sections, which will become the home to over 7,000 people.

However, the rise of a number of security incidents in recent years has posed an unforeseeable and unavoidable challenge for the Lakes Community. The community began to look at a new video surveillance solution to cover the entry and exit points to known hot spots in order to change the curve as strongly advocated by Matthew Gill, President of Pyes Pa Tauriko Lions Club.

Since a significant number of the security events were linked to vehicles entering the community, Hikvision joined hands with its partners, Nutech Security and Atlas Gentech, to deploy upgraded CCTV at Tauranga Transport Operations Centre (TTOC). Installed at key points, these cameras have enabled TTOC to monitor road routes effectively making it much easier for their team to keep an eye on vehicles entering or leaving the area at times these security incidents were most likely to occur.

Hikvision was able to provide the TTOC three ANPR cameras (DS-2CD7A26G0/P-IZS), each with Automatic Number Plate Recognition technology to help review vehicle number plates and provide a clear, detailed documentation of any incidents as they happened. An ultra-HD PTZ camera (DS-2CD8225IX-AELW) was also placed to cover a wide, open area to cover more ground should any suspicious activity occur. In addition, the TTOC now uses the HikCentral platform to conduct video management in a centralized, intelligent and collaborative way so it’s simple and easy for the team to manage the security system.
